New study. Olympic athletes. Post-COVID outcomes.

Researchers tracked 65 Olympic-caliber athletes from Germany’s National Olympic Training Center — not weekend warriors, but elite professionals at the top of their sport.

Here’s what they found after confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections:

Infection rates were ~11%, regardless of contact vs non-contact sport

37% had symptoms lasting over 4 weeks

Over half paused training for 4–8 weeks

At 4 months post-infection:

40% still reported reduced performance

64% had ongoing limitations in sports participation

Lingering issues: mental/physical fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle/joint pain

Let that sink in.

Four months later — despite being cleared, testing negative, and following elite recovery protocols — nearly 2 out of 3 hadn’t returned to full capacity.

This isn’t about “mild” disease.
It’s not about testing positive or negative.
It’s about the psychophysiological toll that can derail even the fittest bodies on the planet.

Troopers are struggling with skyrocketing rent, groceries, and daily expenses while politicians continue to ignore the issue of addressing their pay. You ask these troopers to do a job where the very stark reality is that one day they may not come home; then refuse to compensate them fairly for it. Troopers are people who have dedicated their lives to the safety of Florida and its residents, not line items or political pawns.
