@sparklybugz@Adaora_ble@choc0tube I'm not saying it's some kind of crime I'm saying it's weird to do permanent body modification to a baby for no medical reason and the only reason ear piercing is seen as ok is because it's a more usual one that a lot of people have but it's not different
@sparklybugz@Adaora_ble@choc0tube maybe if you did a pretty little tattoo to your kid when they're a baby they'd grow up liking it because it's normal in their world and maybe it would hurt less than having a tattoo as an adult, it's still super weird to take that decision for them for no reason
@sparklybugz@Adaora_ble@choc0tube and so what? what if she doesn't? piercing your ears later is not that hard or contraining that you have to do it to a baby when they can't know what they want
@Adaora_ble@choc0tube but why are you assuming your child wants their ear pierced? why not do other piercings preventively in that case? why not do tattoos? the answer is that it's really weird to make permanent alterations of your child's body for no reason other than the aesthetic you want for them
Apparently it is now unreasonable to suggest that people should try to read about queer experiences that don't match their own because reading fosters empathy
@chasin_infiniti Biphobia aside I have never understood why people get mad at fiction for not being the exact story they want it to be. Write your own book if you’re gonna be mad that an author wrote the story they wanted to!
@NirrimsLiar yeah i definitely think that being more specific in the marketing would avoid confusion but the way some people respond as if depicting a bi character is somehow wrong or contradictory with the book being sapphic makes me uncomfortable
In many discussions before to not erase your books queerness and understanding of your identity and that’s understandable some people’s language does turn unnuanced… you are in return downplaying that for some readers queerness means they don’t want engage with anything m/f
@NirrimsLiar if the main and endgame relationship is sapphic it's a sapphic book and bi women are sapphic too even if they are with a man at some point un the story
@NirrimsLiar it's okay to think it's not for you, but assuming that a sapphic book will exclusively describe lesbian characters or wlw relationships seems to me like you (not personally but people who are disappointed) think every sapphic person is a lesbian which is just not the case
