Kinda crazy how everyone ignores all the bad luck the Bears had last year, and all the room they have for positive regression.
Defense was badly injured all year, playing games with as many as SIX starters sidelined by injury. That’s going to improve. They finished on the Bottom 5 of most defensive metrics. With an improved and healthier defense, that’s going to improve.
Last year was Year 1 of an entirely new coaching staff that demanded more of their players than most coaches do when it comes to scheme. With a year of time on task now under their belts, expect the penalties to go down and execution to improve, too.
