If you were to write 20/(5*(4)) like you want to, you’re changing the whole equation. Equations can always be rewritten, but they still have to follow a set of rules.

Brackets/parenthesis in BODMAS/PEDMAS only applies to what’s INSIDE the parenthesis/brackets… the 20/5(4) leaves only multiplication and division. So you start left to right… you have the correct process but then you go against that when you do 5x4 first…
