im so proud of myself today
when i was 21 i went bankrupt and was really down financially,
i took out some school loans; and even though i graduated i went into even more debt then i should’ve for fun, cosplaying streaming and moving across the country twice
now today i was able to reconsolidate that debt and improved my interest rate from 37% to 9%
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
and i only have 3K debt in total… i’ve just never seen it that low and stay there

for a girl who’s been homeless more than once and used to have to do some unmentionable jobs in order to get a fast food value meal dinner i can’t imagine being able to say one day in the near future that i am debt free 😭

You need to understand the WHY, its the same formula for any other convention. The purpose of a convention guest is to generate ticket sales thats why a con supplies xyz to make a guest work even if its virtual, its a vehicle to generate ticket sales. Its not a matter of hating smaller entertainers, its business to bring in foot traffic. Theres tons of opportunities within cons now to get meet and greet slots, many companies provide this. SVA when we did some cons we brought in a combination of larger talents, our own talents and people who never did meet and greets before, many people who run booths do this now.
I know many vtubers WANT to be a guest but you need to understand this from a business point of view. If you were running an event and had to make back the money on the event who would you want to put in if you had limited slots? Several larger VAs and entertainers/artists or a handful of entertainers that are not well known that may not attract much foot traffic and would be a gamble? Its not the venue excluding you its them making sure the event is a success.
I guess one could argue "but its digital and costs them nothing" but thats not really a good argument. They still need to make a slot for you as a guest, promote it on socials, make sure you attend ect.

Now here are some tips to get into meet and greets at a convention
1) Keep up with as many companies as you can, corpos, merchandise companies, artists. All of the above have been known to host meet and greets, keep up with when they announce openings.

2) Keep your socials in good shape and keep your content what people see. When someone is picking entertainers they want to pick someone who is entertaining, please remember this

3) If there are no openings..do it yourself!! It does take money yes, but you can get your own table at a con to do your own thing!

4) there are many independent suppliers who do meet and greets at cons like @The_VTRC and many other individuals who offer walk along slots at cons. Do your research and find them! Sometimes you need to pay to do it, sometimes you dont.
