THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS TRADE IS GETTING EVEN MORE CROWDED.

Leveraged funds are now more short the Japanese yen than at any point since 2017.

They're borrowing cheap yen to buy U.S. assets, especially tech stocks, making the carry trade more crowded than it has been in years.

And what happens if the yen strengthens due to intervention?

We've already seen that before.

In August 2024, when yen rallied 14% against USD, investors were forced to buy back yen.

This led to a $6 trillion+ wipeout from the global markets, and the panic selling reached its highest level since the covid crash.

Today, the trade is more crowded than before, so the unwind could be worse.
