How Story is creating an entirely new financial sector in IPFi (for noobs):

1. 🛒 IP Assets can be bought and sold

On Story, every IP Asset has an underlying NFT.

This NFT represents ownership of the IP, and can be bought & sold on marketplaces.

This creates an entire new market for buying / selling WHOLE IPs.

Every IP Asset automatically gets 100 "royalty tokens". Each token represents 1% ownership of the IP's total revenue.

Imagine if the IP owner only mints 3 licenses, or freezes any future licenses from being minted, or every time a license is minted the cost of the next one goes up.

This creates buying fervor on marketplaces just to snatch licenses.

4. 🔐 Staking on IP Asset validity

How do we know if an IP that's registered on Story is valid?

There are many ways, including using infringement detection providers, on-chain disputing, etc.

But you can also individually attest to the validity of an IP by staking on it and earning rewards.

If the IP is caught infringing, your tokens are slashed and sent to the original IP owner who was harmed.
