Q1 2026 was Fvcking brutal.
So many protocols are sunsetting or moving into maintenance mode, there are 20+ that I tracked down so far (list in post below).

➠ Why They're Shutting Down
No users = no money = shutdown.
The reasons vary, but here are the patterns:
❶ Zero revenue, infinite burn
Oracles, L2 infra, RPC nodes. The bill comes monthly regardless of bear market. ZeroLend cited zero revenue + fragmented liquidity directly in its shutdown post.
❷ Liquidity collapse
Mercenary capital exits the second yields compress. Wrong chain bet, wrong narrative timing. Polynomial, MilkyWay, KongSwap all died this way.
❸ No product-market fit
Angle Protocol had $250M+ TVL and still folded. Shifting stablecoin dynamics made the model unworkable. TVL is not product validation.
❹ Hack with no recovery path
Step Finance lost $26–40M. No remaining financing to rebuild. Security risk alone made operations untenable for others watching.
❺ Funding / bear-market pressure
VC fatigue, no new capital, retail aversion to leverage/yield traps. Institutional dominance leaves small protocols as "exit liquidity."
❶ Regulatory / compliance costs
Indirect pressure (e.g., stablecoin rules, MiCA) raises overhead for smaller teams.

➠ What Happens After
Most 2026 shutdowns have been orderly and transparent. The industry is growing up.
What I'm seeing:
▸ Clear timelines for redemptions and data exports
▸ Leftover capital returned to VCs
▸ Labs (like Balancer) winding down the company to cut legal and overhead, while the DAO-run protocol keeps running
On-chain contracts don't vanish. Front ends go dark, but the code stays. A permanent artifact anyone can still use.
In the end, every graceful exit clears the field for the protocols that actually deliver real value.
Every cycle is the same.
Yes, crypto could bounce. And honestly, it would be great for sentiment if it could. But even if it does, it would most likely result in a macro lower high.
I don't try and time those bounces. I have tried before with mixed levels of success. Sometimes it works, other times I got rekt.
When BTC drops below the 50W moving average, it then goes to the 100W moving average, spends a little time there, then goes to the 200W moving average.
Every cycle is eventually the same.
BTC topped when it always does (Q4 of the post-halving year), and so many have spent so many hours trying to convince you that it has not.
And BTC entered into a bear market, and so many have tried to get you to believe that alt season is "just around the corner" because it always happens after BTC tops. What they fail to account for is social interest. After the 2019 top there was also no rotation into altcoins, which also occurred just before QT ended.
I track the social interest in the asset class, and it has been trending down since 2021. There is no one new here for people to sell their altcoins to.
Alt seasons historically occur *after* social interest has been trending up for a year, not after it has been trending down for 5 years.
Have an actual plan on navigating this brutal asset class. Because if the altcoins you hold drop another 50%-80% from here, not a single influencer who promoted them will express an ounce of regret for it. And you will simply be living with the consequences.
I get a lot of hate for saying the truth, but an inconvenient truth is better than a lie.

The plan, to perfection
Alright! Thank you $BTC...
... For following our plan exactly to the tick.
We don't put vague descriptions in our community, we don't draw multiple lines, we don't choose multiple directions... And we especially don't do tricks like "the bear market is here... but a bearish retest i.e. a move up is coming anyway.
None of that, makes money.
Instead we draw one plan, one line, analyze deeply, and do it with high conviction. And with the right analysis and sentiment reads, it very very often plays out.
Just like this one. Called for a local range between 90k-92k, it going up and down a few times, also gave you the low of the consolidation, and we said it moves back up to 95k soon.
That gives the ones who missed their first TP a second chance, and it also solidifies our plan of yes hitting 94.7k serves as a local rejection, but it will be revisited.
Are you entertained?
Now, slowly, the macro bears who were ever so bearish loudly in the 80-85k range, slowly start to quote back on their posts where they covered themselves a bit with calling for bearish retests, loudly and proudly.
Of no help, because we are already seeing it and it's just hindsight, and they already made their audience sell in the 80-85k range with their bearish tone... also visible in the order flow.
We know it, because I told you to take note of their bearish tones inside the 80-85k range where they carefully called for a bear market, and made everyone sell at the worst time indeed (with evidence).
Those types of sentiment reads almost always (and always if your tape read is correct), lead to bearish retests, but maybe also higher (ath) as I explained last post.
In any case, they lead to bullishness on the positional timeframe, hence why we took this long, with first target 95k, second target 112k.
The bears are in for a fun surprise.
The 4 year cycle top callers, who called the 4 year cycle top and made bear posts for that matter in the 80-85k range, excreting a bearish tone, now say "oh and here is the bearish retest by the way".
Well done bears. But you indeed made your audience sell the bottom, and you did it again just under 90k.
And that will last all the way until 112k... and maybe also higher.
Meanwhile, we hold trades which receive excursion for the opposite side and the opposite only, carrying trades up and making you money off the 80-85k range, a place to call a bottom, not to call a bear market.
Decent celebration at 95k, loud celebration at 100k, higher, 112k and ath.
My job will be done once again.
And I thank you for holding along this high timeframe long through every move I call it price will head.
@AlexMasonCrypto You know, the more time passes, the more I'm convinced you're a bot. If it was up to you, everything should have gone galactic-parabilolic a long time ago. But in reality, bears are in control. Why wouldn't you rather post some quality content?
It’s hard to convey intent and timeframe posting on X.
But from a high-level, beyond random chart posts, I like to think about everything through three main lenses:
1. The Earn - Income
Most traders believe they can trade their way to wealth.
I disagree. Income is the biggest driver, especially early on.
Maximize earnings from your profession.
Get promoted, change roles, start a side hustle or small business.
Build a steady stream before you chase multipliers.
2. The Multiply - Growth
Taking that steady stream of income and put it to work.
This is where you grow, through investing, trading, and some larger calculated risk.
Earned money becomes working money.
Learning through experience, this is the active money you're looking to grow. This is where you want to be broad in application. "There is a bull market somewhere" idea. Angle investing, trading/investing, business partnerships.
3. The Protect & Compound - Foundational
Periodically move or rebalance wealth from “Growth” into “Foundational.” Different timeframe, different mindset. You're not market timing, you're building the layer.
This is your true FU capital.
The layer you protect and let quietly compound, providing ultimate security.
Bitcoin. Gold. Blue-chips. Income assets. Real Estate.
Stable, reliable, generational wealth.
Every time capital flows into this layer, you're locking in a new level of wealth and security.
The goal is to flow wealth down into the Foundational. Think of it as a funnel, you want high flow in to have a better chance to multiply it and have enough to flow the way down.
For example, I could be selling a bunch of gold stocks or Bitcoin after a great 4yr Cycle run, but it will also mean stacking and adding to some of those same assets in the Foundational layer. This layer never sells (only rebalances).
Have a great win on a speculative coin, pay your foundational layer with a portion of the winnings, always.
