The balance sheets are messed up with holding more than 50% of Japanese Government Bonds (JGB) and its unrealized loss hitting the ¥45.4T unrealized loss.

Technically, The BOJ is insolvent.

The loss escalation chart tracking the trajectory from ¥0.87T to ¥45.4T.

For now, its surviving because it has to hold JGB till maturity that turns their unrealized loss into real ones.

This is what happens when you fund your rich friends to gamble and they lose.
