Round 1 began today with something we overlook everyday: a browser tab.

A simple rectangle we click on all day: to work, to shop, to scroll, to distract ourselves. It quietly holds our attention, our data, our habits, our impulses. It’s intimate, yet utterly taken for granted.

That’s exactly why we chose it as the entry point of Round 1. If The @brave games was going to start anywhere, it felt right to start with the most mundane portal to the internet.

Then came the design problem I obsessed over for months: how do you make a puzzle that anyone can play, even if English isn’t your first language, but still feel genuinely stimulating with levels of depth while groups of people on the internet can't just share answers or solve with AI.

You could casually spot a word between your lunch-break or you could spiral with your friends into patterns, meanings, and arguments. That tension is intentionally... well, it's the game.

So we built 4 x word grids that look deceptively simple, but aren’t. We planted decoys that AI would happily serve you as answers, and humans would then question. The fun of the game is to doubt, to debate, and collaboration were baked in by design.

Because at the core of Round 1 isn’t just a word hunt.

We want you to experience privacy not as a rule or policy, but as a feeling. The noise of the internet. Broken data. Partial truths. Signal vs distraction. What’s real, what’s not, and how we decide.

In Round 1, you don’t have full info by design, you don’t even know all the clues that lead you to the "correct" answers yet -- you’re searching, aligning with others, and slowly triangulating truth over time, just like we do every day online.

Brave browser-based, reality-style competition where you don’t just watch, you play inside it.

It’s decision-making strategy game with imperfect information.

You’ll constantly face the real questions:
Is this signal… or noise?
Do I trust this person?
Do I coordinate… or sabotage?
Do I move early, or wait and lose value?

That tension is the game.

How it works
You join one of 3 teams on https://t.co/OLgK04lgB2 using an invite code.

Points come from 3 places:
• Gameplay (speed + judgment matter)
• Referrals (smart teammates who rack up big points)
- Prediction Arena (guessing right game outcomes)

Invite mechanics are strategic:

You earn 10% of the gameplay points from the person who referred you AND top 3 performers who used your invite code.

Invite 3 or 1,000 — only the best 3 count.

Choose wisely.

They don’t lose their points, you just get 10% bonus for it.

Each team also has hand-picked team leads (on the cast list).
Follow them, coordinate, share signals with each other.
It’s collaborative… until it isn’t.

Round 1: Signal vs Noise starts Tuesday Feb 3rd 9:15am PT

Words appear across 4 Brave Browser Tabs. Some words are real. Some are decoys.

You can submit ONE code.

First correct submission = max points. Every submission after that = fewer points.

So the real question isn’t what you submit, it’s when, and based on whose info.

Wait too long → lose value.
Move too fast → risk being wrong.
Trust the wrong signal → pain.

Each week introduces new mechanics, higher pressure, and deeper coordination.

There’s also a Prediction Arena where you wager free keys on outcomes.

Get it right → keys convert to points. No money. Just conviction.

We run weekly intel calls on Tuesday, drop clues through partners, and reward players who share their moves publicly.

We will pick 10 players on X who post to get a clue card, you’d be able to ask any yes or no question to verify your instincts. (huge advantage for upcoming rounds)
