In 2018 I came home from work to find that my good friend Josh (and roommate at the time) had tragically taken his own life in our room.

Fighting a battle of mental health in silence myself at the time, I understood his pain. Nevertheless, this event dramatically changed my outlook on life.

A few months later I quit my job as a full time PT and sold most of my material belongings and bought a one way ticket to Portugal, which ended up becoming an 8 month solo traveling trip in which I explored 12 countries.

This experience transformed me.

My whole life I had derived my happiness from shared experiences with friends, mostly going out and partying.

During this vision quest, I learned to be happy alone, the greatest gift one can achieve IMHO. However, most of my drive was derived from my pain, so I had to relearn how to motivate myself from a state of joy rather than a state of despair.

It was weird. My whole life all I REALLY wanted was to be happy. So when I finally got to a place where I woke up and felt blessed & grateful it was tough to re-evaluate next steps in life and create motivation to continue moving forward.

I became a coach because I wanted to share the process I endured to get to this place with others, so they could do the same. But I quickly found that charging people $$$ for these health/fitness/mindset coaching programs took the joy out of it for me.

I quit my coaching programs about 2 years ago to focus on crypto and investing so I could achieve a state of "financial freedom" from which i could choose to do what I wanted without having to worry about the stress of money.

It's going well so far thankfully, and I'm beginning to reevaluate what life looks like after achieving the freedom I need to do the things I want from a place of "because I like to do it" and not a place of "I need to do it to make money to sustain myself".

I hope we all get there one day. And I hope we all remember that life is an aggregate of beautiful moments and experiences -- nothing more, nothing less.

I think striving to impact others moments/experiences in a positive way without expecting a return is noble and that's what id like to do for the remaining years I have left on earth.

Hopefully I can transform this into something tangible and useful over the next decade. Only time will tell.

If you're struggling, financially/mentally/emotionally/etc this is your reminder that you are indeed in control and to keep going. If you don't like where/who you are, be bold and have the courage to change your environment/routine.

You only get so much time, might as well take some risks and enjoy it.
