Best I have found is bulk in LGS and overpriced on whatnot.

MTG comes in two forms now. "play" and "collector" , if just picking up some pieces go for the collector packs. "Play" does not contain the really rare cards.
(play is good to pick up in bulk for long term)

I am recommended to get hobbit but it isnt my thing and its good to get things you like, so will be picking up the Star Trek collectors. (am also picking up TMNT play booster boxs)

((personally I have done well buying sealed pre-cons or "decks" about 3x over 3 years))

The star trek collectors will be the first time they introduce signed cards, they have choosen good "nostalgia" for star trek with various "enterprise" images (instead of the old skool trek).

I dont have any sports as it is not something I know anything about but I see it around and know its popular.
