You're right RippleNet doesn't require you to use XRP as bridge currency. But it means institutions will have to keep using nostro/vostro settlement mechanism which still takes 3-5 days for the settlement.
it's possble of course but do you really think banks will keep using nostro/vostro in like next 20 years?
