@nondualrandy Ironically It would actually be easier to retrieve data from small block chains than chains with tons of data. Its not just about having the data survive, its about having it economically accessible:

@digitsu I think there will always be a place for such services. Some entities like GorillaPool, Bitails, etc are running servers with full UTXO archives. We could for example offer them a fee for full scans. The archival node should serve as the backstop while the overlay reduces burden:
This is the vision I'm seeing for #ElectrumSV. Nodes and servers in the Electrum network will mostly only hold a subset of the transactions they care about and not the whole chain. The full chain is just the backstop. Then Electrum scales independently of the entire #BSV network.
@BitcoinSvGuide@imablackwolf His server network is mostly functional right now, we are still testing. He just has not opened it up to the public yet. My guess is that it can already perform better than the original ElectrumX model, but we want to improve it so it can withstand any imaginary FUD events.
Have you ever seen a bigger piece of shit than this guy. Newsflash your "engineering team" has not helped one iota. Instead they have FUDed and lied about the project and scared people away from building and improving on it.
@imablackwolf@GavinMehl My disagreements with LightBSV were not the technical nitpicking, but rather his declaration that the project deserves to be abandoned and declared dead, rather than finding solutions. Discussions like this are not comfortable, but persevering through them makes us stronger.
LightBSV has flip flopped. The other day he was saying that ElectrumSVP is a dead project and attacking and slandering people who wanted to improve it. Now he is forced to admit he completely missed out on what we are building, and it is viable after all. No apology. Go figure.
@GavinMehl My guess is he thinks he benefits from it because he thinks people are going to use his system or Babbage's instead. He is a mysterious figure and we don't know much about his special interests, but he defends Babbage who also say that Electrum will die by the end of the year:
@Zdch3 People are social creatures. So many users were panicking because of the FUD, builders were afraid to contribute to Electrum because the authorities were telling everyone its a dead project. That is an issue that can't be ignored without letting the project rot to death.
@FAbbruzzetti I agree. Its unfortunate that BSV builders not only have to contend with being attacked by BTC and every other crypto community, but even the people who are supposed to be our allies want to sabotage us. As uncomfortable as this has been, the FUD storm has been resisted.
@SmilaZParadis@GavinMehl@imablackwolf Not necessarily. Dr. Wright often has said stuff like "we don't have to make everything new". Servers still have their place. Bitcoin doesn't have to act like the data storage system. Rather its a data management system. This video is enlightening:

@SmilaZParadis@GavinMehl@imablackwolf That is the BTC model, everyone has their own blockchain on their own device. The Bitcoin Satoshi vision model uses SPV so users don't need to download the whole chain.
@ANNE__Chat Fees have also been raised significantly recently, and it does not seem like that decision was worthwhile during this time of low network use.
So LightBSV lobbied the BSVA to have me take over the project, yet he also believes the project is a "ticking time bomb"? Is this Magical CryptoLand logic? Because I can't understand it. Also I never fought anybody, I defend myself against trolls and liars:
LightBSV, member of the Blue Triangle Club informed me that I'm not "lead developer" of anything, and at most I'm maintainer of a dead end project. Are the new features and improvements in ElectrumSVP considered development? Or should we give all the credit to the Blue Triangles?
#ElectrumSVP beta phase is over and version 0.1.0 has now been officially released. This is the best #Bitcoin#BSV wallet that has ever existed. Read the release notes, download and enjoy new features and security here:

@QuestDima He didn't explain anything. This guy is a complete LARPer scammer. He FUDed the project and told everyone its dead and not to try to work to improve it. He lied and slandered me. If you don't want to be called out as a piece of shit, then don't be one.
@SmilaZParadis@GavinMehl@imablackwolf Pretty much, some like to play make believe and pretend that you don't have to query miners, but the reality is that merkle proofs of txs have to come from miners. Its possible to transact without merkle proofs, P2P, but even then eventually you have to interact with a node.
