दावा किया जा रहा है कि पूर्व गृह सचिव ने यह कीमती धार्मिक भेंट ट्रस्ट को सौंपी थी, लेकिन उन्हें न तो तत्काल रसीद दी गई और न ही बाद में इसकी पूरी जानकारी उपलब्ध कर��ई गई। पूर्व गृह सचिव ने यह भी कहा कि चंपत राय ने उन्हें पहले करीब 9 घंटे और दूसरी बार करीब 4 घंटे तक इंतजार कराया। सबसे बड़ा सवाल यही है जब भारत सरकार के पूर्व गृह सचिव जैसे व्यक्ति द्वारा चढ़ाई गई एक किलो सोने की रामचरितमानस का हिसाब साफ नहीं है, तो आम रामभक्तों के चढ़ावे और दान का रिकॉर्ड कितना सुरक्षित रहा होगा?
