Decred v2.1.5 is now live!
This patch release addresses potential denial-of-service attack vectors, hardens the RPC layer, and improves peer behavior prior to handshake, alongside efficiency gains in memory usage and mixing.
All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade.
Over 11M DCR staked - a new record!
Even as we enter into a bullish cycle, $DCR holders continue to lock their coins in PoS; securing the network and giving them on-chain voting rights.
It's so awesome to see @BisonWallet's order books full and active.
Everyone should be using permissionless, rent seeker free, atomic swap trading platforms. After all, that's the reason we're in crypto!

Read about the founding of Decred:
In early 2014, _ingsoc approached Jake Yocom-Piatt (CEO of Company 0, LLC, a Chicago-based open-source development firm) with the Memcoin2 concept. Jake, who had been involved in cryptocurrency since around 2013, had previously funded and led the development of btcsuite (a Go-language Bitcoin full-node implementation used in various projects).
Jake Yocom-Piatt, along with his pseudonymous collaborators tacotime and _ingsoc, co-founded and developed Decred as a new cryptocurrency. They merged efforts to implement and expand the hybrid consensus model, focusing on better incentive alignment, sustainable governance, and community control (e.g., stakeholders voting on protocol changes and treasury spending).
Company 0 self-funded the project’s development for about two years (no ICO or external venture funding). The team included experienced Bitcoin developers from Company 0.
Decred was publicly announced on December 12, 2015, and its mainnet launched (with trading beginning) on February 8–10, 2016 (sources vary slightly on the exact day, but February 2016 is consistent).
The name “Decred” (short for “decentralized credits”) is believed to have been suggested by tacotime during brainstorming sessions with _ingsoc and Jake.
