As we prepare to celebrate the 250th birthday of America, we would be remiss if we did not take time to reflect on the anniversary of the unimaginable tragedy of July 4th, one year ago, in the Texas Hill Country. The historic flooding was relentless and devastating. More than 130 people died along the Guadalupe River that night. With 27 of those victims just little girls away at summer camp. The damage and destruction are almost too insurmountable and still so hard to look at.
When the call for help came, multiple FWFD firefighters made their way down south to do whatever was asked and needed of them for such a large-scale incident. And they went wherever their skills could be best used for the operation (or mission at hand). Their deployment lasted weeks at a time with some members even returning again and again for months.
For the families who lost loved ones: we hold you tightly as we continue our prayers for you as you grieve this painful anniversary.
For the survivors-we lift you up in love and hope you find some peace knowing you did absolutely everything you could as we know youโve been hard on yourselves all year.
For the first responders and volunteers who spent countless hours rescuing, searching and recovering: we feel that hollow, yet tender ache, too. We understand you left a piece of each and every one of yourselves down there with those that were lost.
The Fort Worth Fire Department will always pause to remember the tragedy of that day. And for many of us, there will forever be a green ribbon tied around that part of our broken heart. ๐
Stay safe and Hill Country Strong, #FortWorth.
@Mimiiben1 Why is no one getting 5?
Sq rt of 49 is 7
Sq rt of 81 is 9
Sq rt of 9 is 3
7+3 is 10 divided by the sq rt of 4 which is 2
10/2 is 5
At least thatโs how Iโm understanding this
The Midlothian Panthers make history, clinching their first #UILState Boys Soccer Championship in their debut state tournament appearance. Congratulations Panthers! ๐โฝ๏ธ
@jonjohnrobinson@wfaa I donโt see this as being fearful as much as thereโs a ton of extra people coming to this area and could fill up before heading out of town, depleting our gas stations quicker than typical!
@NACAC@usedgov@FAFSA Just tried to register and I got a message that states that the registration for this event has reached its maximum. Will there be another?
