Kyle Whittingham on his radio show, on the third-and-goal play call:

"Ideally, you'd like to just hammer the ball down hill inside run game and power it into the end zone. It was a bootleg and the route was wide open in the end zone."

Added that the play by the DE was outstanding because Michigan had not shown that look all year and usually the DE crashes down to stop the handoff (in this case, the fake).

Michigan has sent in the Tariq Boney roughing the passer penalty to the Big Ten, seeking clarification, Kyle Whittingham said.

Whittingham noted that he didn't get a good explanation from the officials.

"After the throw, his hand kind of touched the helmet. I said, 'Does it matter how hard he hit the helmet?'"
