Paper Acceptance Announcement ๐
Paper titled "Diagnosing Evidence Utilization in Multimodal Document Question Answering" has been accepted at ACM SIGKDD 2026 Research Track.
Authors: Debolena Basak, Digbalay Bose, Koustava Goswami, Maunendra Sankar Desarkar
๐ Congratulations to all the authors!
๐ Key Highlight:
This paper conducts a comprehensive diagnosis of how effectively 7 popular Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) use relevant evidence for document question answering across text, image, table, chart, and cross-modal inputs. Results reveal a strong reliance on text-based evidence, with notably weaker performance on image-only and cross-evidence inputs, a gap that supervised fine-tuning also fails to consistently close. Attention-based analysis further shows that low attention to image tokens contributes to poor utilisation of image evidence, highlighting the key limitations in current MLLMs.

Paper Acceptance Announcement ๐
Paper titled "SLIM: A Scalable Large Integer Multiplier with Run-time Configurable Operand Length for FPGAs" has been accepted at the IEEE Computer Society Annual Symposium on VLSI (ISVLSI) 2026.
Authors: Sasi Snigdha Yadavalli (IIIT Bangalore and SURE intern 2025 at IITH) and Rajesh Kedia (IITH)
๐ Congratulations to the authors!
๐ Key Highlight:
The paper proposes a highly configurable and scalable large integer multiplier, SLIM, which multiplies slices of the large operands using a smaller base multiplier. SLIM is designed for FPGAs and combines runtime configurable operand width with design-time configurable base multiplier width and the interface width for streaming operands and result. It consumes considerably less time and FPGA resources compared to existing runtime configurable large integer multipliers.

Paper titled "Liquid Tree Automata" has been accepted at Computer Aided Verification (CAV 2026), Lisbon, Portugal.
Authors: Ashish Mishra (IITH), Suresh Jagannathan (Purdue University)
๐ Congratulations to all the authors!
๐ Key Highlight:
Component-based synthesis (CBS) is a powerful technique for generating programs from library methods, but its effectiveness is often hindered by the complexity of logical constraints. This work introduces Liquid Tree Automata (LTA), a novel automata variant designed to significantly accelerate the search for feasible solutions in synthesis. LTA integrates the typing rules of refinement type systems directly into the automata construction.

Paper titled "BMuSig2: Schnorr-Compatible Blind Multi-Signatures" has been accepted at ACM Asia Conference on Computer and Communications Security (AsiaCCS 2026), Bangalore, India.
Authors: Kanchan Bisht, Keerthi Aiswarya Varshini, Shivam Sethi, Maria Francis, R. Kabaleeshwaran
๐ Congratulations to all the authors!
๐ Key Highlight:
Blind signatures and multi-signatures are well established, but their combinationโblind multi-signatures (BMS)โis recent. This work presents BMuSig2, a practical scheme that enables a group of signers to produce a single compact signature for a hidden message, without learning the message or being able to trace it later.
BMuSig2 is fully compatible with Schnorr signatures (identical signing and verification), enabling seamless integration into blockchain systems that support on-chain Schnorr verification. It is proven secure in the concurrent setting and supported by a proof-of-concept implementation demonstrating feasibility.

Paper titled "ZEEP: Zone Encryption with Enhanced Privacy for Vehicular Communication" has been accepted at ACM Asia Conference on Computer and Communications Security (AsiaCCS 2026), Bangalore, India.
Authors: Kanchan Bisht, Ashish B Emmanuel, Prashanth Sriram S, Maria Francis
๐ Congratulations to all the authors!
๐ Key Highlight:
This work presents ZEEP (Zone Encryption with Enhanced Privacy), a privacy-preserving framework for vehicular networks that extends Zone Encryption with TTP-free revocable anonymous credentials (TFRACs). It enables anonymous authentication with revocation while preserving privacy even against semi-honest authorities that may otherwise use tracing capabilities to profile vehicles.

Paper titled "Transitioning Heads Conundrum: The Hidden Bottleneck in Long-Tailed Class-Incremental Learning" has been accepted at TMLR 2026 (Transactions on Machine Learning Research).
Authors: Rahul Vigneswaran, Hari Chandana Kuchibhotla, Vineeth N Balasubramanian
๐ Congratulations to all the authors!
๐ Key Highlight:
This work introduces DEREK (DEcoupling Representations for Early Knowledge Distillation), a method addressing a previously overlooked challenge in Long-Tailed Class-Incremental Learning (LTCIL): the Transitioning Heads Conundrum.
In LTCIL, head classes that are well-represented in earlier tasks become tail classes in subsequent tasks due to memory constraints, leading to accelerated catastrophic forgetting. DEREK mitigates this by decoupling head and tail learning via specialized expert networks and applying Early Knowledge Distillation before data constraints take effect, preserving rich representations.
Across 2 LTCIL benchmarks, 12 experimental settings, and 24 baselines, DEREK consistently establishes new state-of-the-art performance.
