Watching Elon Musk this week has been a fascinating character study in the saviour complex of Western tech billionaires.
They arrive in your country selling you the future. Welcome them, and you’re a country that wants progress. Make them wait, and suddenly your people are victims who need rescuing from their own institutions by the chosen one.
It’s a pattern. When Thai rescuers didn’t use the mini-submarine Musk sent for the trapped boys, and diver Vernon Unsworth called the idea impractical, Musk attacked him as the “pedo guy.”
When Brazil’s Supreme Court ordered X to comply with its rulings, Musk called the judge a “dictator.”
The script rarely changes. Only the country does.
The colonial mindset isn’t always about wanting to rule a country. Sometimes it’s the assumption that you arrive as its saviour, and if the country doesn’t immediately recognise you as one, something must be wrong with the country.
Never thought I'd see the day the Indian opposition will RT Shri Elon Musk Ji Ki. Our opposition is Left. Musk is as Right as it gets. Hor dus kinne achchhe din chahida tainu!
The same people called Starlink a national security risk last year. Was his entry the scandal or the delay is the scandal? Ek hi sahi hoga na.
Tesla drove in on his conditions because Trump Chachu forced India's hand. Starlink is different. Cars need showrooms, satellite links need security clearance. India will set conditions, Starlink will negotiate, and that's how it works everywhere. China hasn't let him in. Sovereignty is not a monthly internet subscription plan.
Yes, the government is in a tight spot at home ATM. It has seen how a Meta algorithm can feed the fire of dissent. It would want X on its side. Smart of Elon to press the crony nerve at this crucial moment. The government better be equally smart to equal.
My guess is Starlink will eventually be in, once India finalises the framework for this new comm compounder. Even the Indian telcos are still waiting for the final go-ahead. It's natural for Starlink to eye the first-mover advantage. For the government, it should always be Advantage India. No matter which party is in power, some things remain non-negotiable and this issue is not even in that category. Outside the conditions of guardrails, everything else will be negotiated. India is not China. India is not Ghana either.
Like Tesla, Starlink would find few takers though if prices remain in that zone. India remains a value for money and price-sensitive market. Jai ho!
@ajeetbharti 👏 Youtuber to Streamer! What makes it even crazier is that it's all actual HQ content and not brainrot/ragebait stream.
More power to you buddy 🌷
Delighted to interact with the Indian community in The Hague. Their warmth, achievements and strong bond with India continue to make us proud. https://t.co/DVKQo1pKXw
Landed in Amsterdam. This visit to the Netherlands comes at a time when the India-EU Free Trade Agreement has given a major impetus to trade and investment linkages. It offers an opportunity to deepen relations in areas like semiconductors, water, clean energy and more.
Will be holding talks with Prime Minister Rob Jetten and will be calling on Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. I also look forward to addressing a community programme on the morning of the 16th.
@koninklijkhuis@RobJetten
Geland in Amsterdam.
@koninklijkhuis@RobJetten
X is the most powerful platform in the world.
Today, the Prime Minister of India himself used X to fact-check a major news claim and directly tell people the truth.
That’s the power of X.
X is not just a social media app. It is the world’s real-time public square.
Here’s a little story about @AmitShah, Bengal and me.
Sometime after 2021 elections, I don’t recall what the occasion was, but there was a media meeting where Amit Shah was present.
I got up and asked him about Bengal and the plight of Hindus. This was the first time I was speaking to him. I had never met him before.
Before I could complete my question, he said, “I know what you went through in Bengal. Sab hoga. Main janta hu”.
A similar meeting happened a couple of years later. I asked and got a similar answer.
This time, I sat down and hid my face because I couldn’t control my tears.
@smitaprakash was there right next to me. No words were needed and she held my hand.
Today, Amit Shah delivered. He said no more. No more. “Main janta hu. Sab hoga”. That’s all. And he delivered today.
1. Just got off a call with @UnSubtleDesi. I couldn't be happier for her and both of us couldn't help but discuss the harrowing days of post poll violence in West Bengal in 2021. So I am going to share what happened five years ago just so ppl know what happened. #WestBengal2026.
@MinPres
@MinPres
India kiest voor groen in de begroting van 2026!
Belangrijkste punten:
🔹 $2,2 m voor CO2-opvang (CCUS).
🔹 Grote focus op zonne-energie op daken.
🔹 Inzet op kernenergie voor stabiele stroom.

Hardwork on the ground can be beaten by hardwork on the ground. The BJP takes elections too seriously for the competition to comprehend. It has the human and financial resources and puts it all to use.
