In YA lit last semester, we read #Crossover by @kwamealexander and I told @elizabethaself that I was going to put Basketball Rule #3 in my classroom because a) I love it and b) accessible poetry and diverse lit is so important. After a day of quarantine painting, here it is!
And maybe 1 good thing from this all can be awareness of what our schools have become in this country- the heartbeat of many communities. May we recognize that in the future with appreciation, legislation, and empowerment. It’s not why we do it but it will help us in our mission
