Today marks the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of Bergen-Belsen by the British forces. I created these pieces on the 75th anniversary to remember all the victims, survivors, and liberators of Bergen-Belsen. What did Liberation really mean? How does one return to life?
It's always wonderful to collaborate with @BoltonACIS with #schoolslinking on creative projects. It's always a pleasure working with such dedicated art teachers and their brilliant students. The students' creative reflective artworks are amazing.
We're celebrating some of the artwork created toward this year’s schools linking Holocaust project.
The result of the dedication of our creative collaborator + talented art teacher @CSlifkin + the gifted pupils from @official_BSCA , @MSJBolton , @SharplesSchool + @Joeys_rchs

I lit my candle to remember the six million innocent Jewish men, women, and children murdered during the Holocaust. To remember the darkness of the past & to create light together, standing united against antisemitism and all prejudice.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
