Lo has leído bien, tranquilo.

Wait… This “Boyband” Became Depeche Mode?
Look at them here.
Young. Stylish. Surrounded by synthesizers. Singing “Just Can’t Get Enough” like they’re about to become the next charming British boyband.
Except… this “boyband” went on to build a career lasting more than four decades.
That might be the strangest thing about watching old Depeche Mode performances today.
You know what comes next.
The bright synths and innocent energy of “Just Can’t Get Enough” belong to a very different chapter of their story. The song came from 1981, when the band was still at the beginning of its career and synth-pop was starting to prove that electronic instruments could carry the heart of a pop song.
At that point, there was no way of knowing how far these guys were going to go.
And that's what makes the footage so fun to revisit.
They don't look like a band preparing to become one of the defining acts of electronic music. They look like four young musicians having an absurd amount of fun with synthesizers.
Then history happens.
Depeche Mode kept evolving.
The cheerful pop of their early years gradually gave way to darker textures, heavier themes and a sound that became increasingly unmistakable. They didn't spend four decades trying to recreate the feeling of “Just Can’t Get Enough.”
They outgrew it.
That is something I love about watching early footage of legendary artists.
We already know the ending, so we see things the audience at the time couldn't possibly have seen.
Every awkward hairstyle becomes part of the origin story.
Every simple synth line sounds like the beginning of something much larger.
Every young face on the screen belongs to musicians who haven't yet discovered exactly how far their own music can take them.
And then there's the funniest part.
Calling them a “boyband” isn't completely wrong when you look at the image.
But it becomes hilarious when you know the résumé.
A typical boyband is built around a moment.
Depeche Mode built a world.
They survived changing fashions, changing technology, changing audiences and several completely different eras of pop music. They went from young men making irresistible synth-pop to becoming one of the most influential electronic bands in the world.
That's an incredible distance to travel from one song.
So yes, let’s call this a boyband.
Just remember what happened next.
Because these boys didn't simply grow older.
They grew into Depeche Mode.
And somehow, “Just Can’t Get Enough” still sounds like the perfect place to begin the story. ❤️
