To the people who say it’s all about the kids. Just remember the kids learn in an environment created by the teacher. A teacher who is supported, encouraged and appreciated will create a more positive and dynamic learning environment than a teacher who is not supported that way.
I used to never understand the folks in education who picked hoodies or hats as the hill to die on. Now, I get it.
If you don't enforce the little things, it communicates to everyone "we don't enforce rules here."

A TikToker who works in a Florida school exposes the books being removed by the state for being "inappropriate." The banned books cover topics such as hate groups, Judaism, the Holocaust, Pocahontas, African Americans in aviation, and more.
This needs to go viral.
If you haven't heard about "Joaquin's First School Shooting" I urge you to please watch the video below.
This book was written by a woman named Patricia Oliver. Oliver lost her 17-year-old son Joaquin Oliver in the Parkland Florida school shooting in 2018.
Joaquin had told his parents before his passing that he wanted to make a difference in the world. His story can make that difference.
We need to get together as a nation, to at least try and do something to stop what's happening. We can work together and come up with solutions which do not abridge the Second Amendment, but also don't allow our young children to continue to be put in harms way because of a lack of willingness to compromise.
Also, please follow Patricia's Twitter account here: @ChangeTheRef.
Thoughts?
Insecure parents seek a sense of self worth through their children.
They create (sometimes even before the child is born) a fantasy version of who the child will be. Based on their own needs, not the unique traits of their child. They struggle to actually connect with the child emotionally, and instead stay connected to a mental version of who their child ‘should’ be.
Children of these parents subconsciously feel like the relationship is transactional. And, that if they don’t fulfill their parents needs (accomplish, perform, be ‘perfect’) their parent will not approve of them.
As adults they sometimes have double lives, or two “selves”— the self they present to a parent and the self they present to the rest of the world.
At their core, they want nothing more than to be loved and accepted by a parent not for what they do, but for who they truly are.
You don’t need to over-explain or convince people when you set a boundary. If they don’t respect it, hold the boundary anyway. If they continue to not respect it, reflect on what role they’ll have in your life going forward.
Boundaries are for you, not them.
In the words of the late great John Lewis:
“Nashville prepared me. If it hadn’t been for Nashville, I would not be the person I am now.”
NOTHING HAS CHANGED and I can say without fear of contradiction that John Lewis has his hands on Justin Jones’ shoulders today.
This is political tyranny

Leaders, while it's true that it’s all about the kids, remember that a student's learning environment is created by the teacher. A teacher who is supported, valued, & appreciated will create a more positive & dynamic learning environment than a teacher who is not.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but the words "shall not be infringed" are meaningless without the words WELL REGULATED MILITIA.
Just kidding, I know exactly who needs to hear it.
You're living a 2nd Amendment lie. It's not a blank check to all gun-loving randos. And it doesn't give you carte blanche permission to mow down dozens of innocents in an angry hail of bullets.
It doesn't supersede OUR rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's not more sacred than our right to watch our 5-year-olds grow into adults and have kids of their own. It's not more important than our rights to live long, fulfilling lives.
Yeah, we've heard it all before "it won't stop every mass shooting," but if it stops ONE mass shooting, if it saves someone's little kids, someone's mama, isn't THAT worth throwing everything we can at this epidemic of gun deaths?
Seatbelts, speed limits, and helmets don't prevent EVERYONE from dying, but they sure do save a LOT of lives. Nobody took our cars away, so stop it with that nonsense. But they DID insist we learn how to properly drive one, get a license and registration, and abide by the common rules of the road.
Right now, we are failing to protect our littlest kids from being mass murdered while they're in school. Don't they deserve to learn without being burdened with fight or flight, or hiding under their desks, wondering if they're going to die today?
And how selfish are YOU to resist what, a few extra rules some more days waiting on a background check to save some lives just to preserve your fantasy of some shootout with a tyrannical gov't?
Oh, the criminals are going to have access to guns while you won't? WRONG. You'll have access, you just have to buy your guns legally. Many of these mass shootings aren't even criminals -- they are just angry, selfish people looking to make a big splash before they take themselves out.
No other country on Earth has this problem. What do you need an AR-15 for? If you have a showdown with the government, I hate to burst your bubble, but you will lose, for sure. No real hunter uses that kind of weapon to shoot deer or rabbits. So what is it, then? A small peen? See a therapist.
The NRA has sold a lot of lies to insecure people. Tyranny? Wasn't that supposed to be President Obama? How do you still have guns and ammo?
And the scapegoating of trans people absolutely has to stop. They are our smallest, most vulnerable community. If you didn't have them to shit on, you'd still be shitting on gay people. And Muslims. And Blacks. And all the way down the list of people you need to feel like you're superior to. All they want to do is exist without being told they shouldn't.
And their rights to exist are more important than your right to own a big ass gun to make you feel better about your little ass dick.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Read the Constitution again. It doesn't say anything about the right to shoot up innocents in a school, or a church, or a supermarket, or a club, or anywhere.
"What you're telling me is, you don't mind infringing free speech to protect children from this amorphous thing you think of, but when it comes to children that have died, you don't give a flying f*ck."
Jon Stewart is a national treasure.
AMAZING: Live on Fox News, an angry mom at the Nashville School Shooting Press Conference, steps in front of the mic and gives an incredible speech.
Meanwhile Fox News is caught off guard and panics, trying to not show her on air. I'm sure the gun lobby and NRA aren't too happy.
The woman, named Ashbey Beasley
@CampBeasleywood
, was a Highland Park, Illinois shooting survivor, and said the following:
“Aren’t you guys tired of covering this? Aren’t you guys tired of being here and having to cover all these mass shootings? How is this still happening? How are our children still dying and why are we failing them? "These mass shootings will continue to happen until our lawmakers step up and pass gun safety legislation.”
Thank you!!
Now is NOT the time for school admin to have the “If you don’t like it, then leave” attitude toward teachers.
First, are y’all hiding a surplus of teachers somewhere?
Second, the job market has plenty of openings in and out of ed.
Last, not least, ✌️.
