🫀 HORIZON Trial: a landmark Lp(a) study
The results are in 🔎
In >8,000 patients with elevated Lp(a) & established CVD, the phase 3 Lp(a)HORIZON trial evaluated pelacarsen vs placebo.
📉 Lp(a) levels were lowered
❌ The primary endpoint was not met
No significant reduction in the composite of CV death, non-fatal MI, non-fatal stroke, or urgent coronary revascularization.
🔬 While disappointing, these findings provide important insights into the relationship between Lp(a) lowering and cardiovascular outcomes—and will help shape the next chapter of Lp(a) research.
