Canadian justice system misperception number 1: That a "life sentence" is even close to what a reasonable person would assume that term means. It basically means you never stop being on parole, but people with "life sentences" are routinely let out of prison after just five years

Unhoused people are fined for simply existing or participating in survival tactics like panhandling.
