RE: the ongoing issue, when my mum was pregnant with me she was told I had Down’s syndrome and would likely have a short and difficult life. As it goes, they were wrong and I have done pretty well. But if they were right I would still be their daughter, and more than that, human.

Nope. Women are generally hypergamous and tend to date/marry upwards. Female doctors sit at the pinnacle of the intellectual pyramid, and the pool of men at or above that is quite small.

It's either fellow doctors, engineers/lawyers/b/men doing quite well financially, or none.
