This is our aquifer. The Halawa Shaft, up until Dec. 2021, provided 20% of Honolulu’s water. The Board of Water Supply announced that due to the Navy contaminating our water with fuel from their leaking Red Hill tanks, we may never be able to draw from this shaft again. Ever.

BREAKING: Central banks around the world are now quietly stockpiling 4 times as much gold as usual and moving it out of the US, per Goldman Sachs, amid senior officials warning that the gold is "no longer safe" in Trump’s hands.

Purchases hit 79 tonnes in August against a pre-2022 average of 17, while holdings at the New York Fed fell 40 tonnes and holdings at the Bank of England rose 46.

China was the largest buyer at 25 tonnes, aimed at rapidly diversifying away from the US dollar and G7 currencies.

On the storage side, Netherlands moved 86 tonnes out of New York and Ottawa, citing "increasing geopolitical unrest." France sold 129 tonnes in New York and bought gold in Europe instead.

[Paweł Wargan @pawelwargan]

The Long March is one of the greatest epics in the annals of human history.

In 1934, 86,000 Chinese Red Army soldiers began an arduous 12,500 kilometre journey to escape encirclement. They crossed 40 mountains, 100 rivers and a marshland known as the “death zone”. They fought more than 600 battles on their journey. Only about 7,000 survived the trek to Yan’an, where they established a revolutionary base.

Along the way, the marching soldiers formed deep connections with local peasants. In many ways, that experience formed the bedrock of China's revolutionary process, which was led by the peasantry and continues to be rooted in the countryside to this day.

The Israeli Society for Sexual Trauma Treatment and Prevention states unequivocally that institutionalized, ritual sexual abuse of children is rampant throughout Israeli society. It goes way beyond Shoshana Strook. These are elaborate rape CEREMONIES. https://t.co/vxL1r7Py3h

Within the next 48 hours, if flour is not allowed into Gaza, all bakeries in the city will stop producing bread.

We are facing an enormous catastrophe. Famine is knocking on our doors once again, and this time, it could be worse than anything we have experienced before.

Please, do not remain silent! Talk about Gaza, make our voices heard around the world, and do everything you can before thousands of people lose access to something as basic as a loaf of bread.

Zelensky’s position has not changed; freezing the front lines has been his long-standing demand. However, Putin’s requirement is that Ukraine must cede the entire Donbas, so the core of the confrontation between the two sides remains the same. In addition, Trump’s inclination to pressure Ukraine into making concessions remains unchanged, while Europe’s firm support for Ukraine also continues. The situation in Ukraine is still maintaining the previous balance. Winter is approaching soon, battlefield activity will decline, and the situation is likely to remain as it is until next spring.

An Iranian senior security official in Tehran told Fars that Iran has instructed its various operational units that, should another round of large-scale war occur, including a wave of assassinations targeting officials and the killing of civilians, Iran will consider political targets associated with the US and other participants in the war, as well as their infrastructure, legitimate targets.

I’m sick of hearing Mamdani can’t arrest Netanyahu or the man who killed Hind Rajab. The Adams administration hunted me down and arrested me for words. Just words. So spare me the “he can’t” bullshit. Power finds a way when it wants to.

Crazy thing to announce

[Reza Nasri @RezaNasri1]

It would be a huge miscalculation to assume that Iran will just stand idle and watch the United States and Israel target its infrastructure and attempt to topple its political establishment. Both Washington and Tel Aviv are driven by electoral and political motives, not genuine strategic calculation: Israelis vote in six days, Americans in thirteen.

Iran will deploy all its means to make any attack prohibitively costly. A third wave of war would not stay contained. Power grids, desalination plants, refineries and ports across the region would burn. Tens of millions would be left without water or electricity, and a massive wave of refugees would move from Arab countries towards Europe. Hormuz would close completely, oil would spike, and the global economy would tip into recession. Israel's economy, already bled by mobilisation and missile fire, would not survive a prolonged war of attrition. And Trump would be trapped in a crisis that consumes the rest of his presidency and leaves a wreck for his successors.

A state facing an existential threat knows no boundaries. Even the ICJ's 1996 Nuclear Weapons Advisory Opinion affirmed "the fundamental right of every State to survival." The Court also could not declare even the most extreme means unlawful where "the very survival of a State would be at stake."

Gaza is on the brink of collapse. The World Food Programme announces the suspension, aid is being cut off. All of this is happening when the most difficult winter months approach. We are heading towards complete disaster.
