In 2022, the South Korean government effectively scammed BTS out of 7 billion won for their Busan World Expo concert. Despite initially promising to cover the expenses for the event, the government ultimately left BTS to shoulder all the costs themselves. The government used this event as leverage to determine the members' military exemption status, but the members chose to announce their enlistment before the government could make a decision. Furthermore, the allocation of the 1 billion won personally donated by RM remains unaccounted for.
