Elon Musk almost died twice in the same year and most people have no idea it ever happened.

In 2000, right after selling his first company, he went on vacation to Africa and South America. He came back with something far worse than a tan.

He had contracted falciparum malaria. The deadliest kind. The kind that kills you.
