It was #OTD in 1987 that Eric Show hit Andre Dawson in the face in the third inning after homering against Show in the first inning. @Sut_40 and the #Cubs bench came running after Show. Once Andre Dawson regained consciousness, he went after Show, who had to leave the game for his own safety. Dawson, suffered cuts on his left-upper lip and a bruise on his left-lower cheekbone and he received 24 stitches inside and outside the mouth. Greg Maddux retaliated by beaning Benito Santiago and got ejected.

Congrats to this legend on retirement. One of the best leaders the game has seen. I could not have asked for a better teammate to come into the league with and I’m proud of all our success together over the years.
