#Gaelic Census numbers for the Isle of Skye:
2011: 2,857 out of 9,710 (30%)

Imagine CHOOSING to lock the doors of a hospital capable of providing 24/7 urgent care that is a one minute walk away from a music festival with thousands of people attending.
Portree is one of the busiest places in summer with Scottish tourism and urgent care is what should be expected of anyone visiting here or living here.
Skye is not some small wee island where everything is a stones throw away or a 5 minute drive.
Anyone with a medical emergency in the most northerly point of Skye is 1 hour 30 mins away from the closest “functioning” hospital.
Factor in a return time if they would require an ambulance.
6 years now this has been going on.
OPEN PORTREE HOSPITAL FOR 24/7 URGENT CARE
The community of Skye and visitors to this island deserve better!

Couldn’t get an ambulance for close to an hour and wasn’t able to get into a so called hospital to get life saving equipment.
For our special series on The State of Scotland's Colleges, @heraldscotland sent me on a field trip to the Isle of Skye to visit @SabhalMorOstaig, the only Gaelic college in the country.
Trust me, it's worth knowing about 👇
