To Freud, women were simply men without penises (Cohler & Galatzer-Levy,2008), so naturally he introduced a stage of 'penis envy' where a woman realises she does not possess a penis and experiences an envy of the male, which accounted for much of female behaviour.
He further states that the only way women can overcome this"penis envy" was to have a child of their own - even going as far as to suggest they wanted a male child, in their efforts to gain a penis. Karen Horney aptly destroyed Freud's arguments by introducing "Womb Envy" to show how ridiculous he sounded. She stated that men were subconsciously jealous of women's ability to create life. Because they are unable to get pregnant, they in turn seek similar fulfillment in areas OUTSIDE of the home, such as high position jobs and being promiscuous
Further states, "Womb envy" might be one of the main reasons that males DENY WOMEN EQUAL RIGHTS, DEMONISE the female body and sexuality, have blamed women for the downfall of society, and explains why men are SO OBSESSED with controlling women's reproductive health and abortion!

sometimes it manifests as someone having such ethereal and otherworldly energy that they don’t even feel like a real person sometimes.
