'Tend and befriend' instinct contrasts with the 'fight or flight instinct'. 'Fight or flight' instinct encourages people to flee or become aggressive in stressful situations, the 'tend and befriend' instinct encourages people to reach out, connect, and support.
It's national cuddle day in Cumbria tomorrow! (There was also a national cuddle day on Jan 6th apparently). I'll be chatting about it on BBC Radio Cumbria at 9:40 :)

"Just reaching out and touching someone -- consensually, of course -- can reduce bad feelings associated with the typical ups and downs of our social interactions." https://t.co/ezz8pejyjd
I'll be chatting about hugging on BBC Gloucestershire tomorrow at 11:15!

Saw this quote on @postsecret today -
"Just because you haven’t found your reason to live yet, it doesn’t mean you never will"
Be, and remain, strong... and never give up, on yourself, on life
Once you work on your relationship with yourself, your relationship with the outer world & other people will become much healthier.
The sooner you can be okay with who you are, the sooner you will find peace within yourself & with others.
"If you are unhappy at times, this is not a shortcoming that demands urgent repair... Far from it. This fluctuation is, in fact, what makes you human." https://t.co/WbFOdhBohf
