we are desensitized to human violence and forbidden from noticing it if the perpetrators are of certain groups. it takes something outside of it to register.

we are so inured to human misery and violence that it fails to register.

you can watch a movie and 200 people get machine gunned and body slammed and no one's pulse rises but kick one animal and the audience goes wild.

a bum on the sidewalk in a pile of his own needles and excrement elicits nothing but an injured animal in the same space drives sympathy and response.

you're not desensitized to it.

it's still real.

and this issue is just as real. it’s a vector to channel what many have wanted to say and felt they cannot. it’s a simple, pure symbol that can be adopted while not looking self serving.

this is the essence of "wick's law" one of the few truly inviolable rules of the internet: you do not mess with animals.

it's the one place where people can still speak their true thoughts.

One of the many things that differentiates the West from the Third World—and the Islamic realm, in particular—is the attitude toward animals. We tend to love animals, treat them well and even, often, anthropomorphize them. People in the Muslim world too often treat them as mere objects (and not objects to be cherished, either).

This is a test of character, too, because how you treat the weakest among you says a lot about you. And, of course, animals are the weakest among us.

You are correct about people's lack of moral balance, too, We should be upset about this; I absolutely am. But if you're outraged about it, yet don't blink an eye at migrant transgressions against indigenous Westerners, you need to reevaluate your moral compass.

This said, an incident such as this grabs people emotionally because it's caught on video; it's presented to us, as they say, in living color. I will reiterate, too: It is disgusting and disturbs any person of character and decency.

Everyone is rightfully outraged over migrants in Ceuta beating a baby dolphin to death, but European children are raped and killed by migrants on a daily basis and we barely see this level of fury.

It took a dolphin calf. That says something about the way our society views the value of human children.

Take the Lindsay Clancy case. She strangled her three children to death and the left and feminists all rushed to her defense.

If she had strangled three dolphin calves instead, none of them would have defended her.
