Some excellent suggestions from Shubman Gill on how to popularise the ODI format:
The ODI WC should remain the flagship event of international white-ball cricket.
The ODI format should always be played over 50 overs per side.
Organise more tri-series and multi-team events.
I think this is the best press conference of captain Shubhman Gill so far in his career. The calmness, authenticity, articulation and a vision of a leader. His second best was in Vadodra last year and this is mighty impressive. Wait for whole news.
But mark my words. This is incredibly mellifluous PC which gives huge positive vibes before an important series.
Shubman Gill says we need to bring back multi-nation series (triangular and quadrangular), where two teams travel to unfamiliar conditions. I grew up watching 50-over cricket and don’t think there’s any need to switch it to 40 overs.
Shubman Gill says he had discussions with Virat Kohli day before yesterday about Team Combination & planning for ODI WC in terms of which players should we play or Not. #TeamIndia#ENGvsIND
Shubman- I don’t think there will be any impact of the T20 series on this one. This is a different format and the team knows what it has to achieve. Different format, different atmosphere.
Shubman Gill:
Huge congratulations to the women's team for the win at the Lord's. We know how important it is to win at the Lord's and it is a massive moment for the team.
Two brilliant batters from India and Bangladesh, and a fiery New Zealand quick are in the running for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for June 2026 🤩
