With over 309,000 members, CUPE Ontario campaigns for legislative and political change to defend public services, communities, equity, and workers' rights.
Thunder Bay Public Library workers are on strike, and they need our solidarity. 👇🏽
Members of CUPE 3120 and CUPE 87-18 are standing up against concessions and fighting to protect their working conditions and the library services their community relies on.
Here are two ways you can support them today:
1. Send a message demanding a fair deal 📖
Take a minute to tell the Library Board to withdraw its concessions and negotiate a fair agreement. Wherever you are in Ontario, you can help put pressure on the employer.

2. Join tonight’s solidarity rally 🪧
If you’re in the Thunder Bay area, bring your coworkers, friends and union flags and stand with library workers on the picket line.

A huge shoutout to @cupe_4705 for bringing together #greatersudbury workers, #MunicipalElection candidates, and communities to discuss the future of our public services.
@cupe_4705 is northern Ontario's largest CUPE local, representing approximately 1,500 municipal workers in emergency services, social services, libraries, roads, the airport, and more.
The event was a great opportunity to engage with municipal candidates about the issues that matter to workers and their communities, including the importance of keeping our public services public.
Even better, 22 candidates signed the https://t.co/u8r3XvMTNe pledge!
CUPE Ontario President, Yolanda McClean, joined WSIB workers who are fighting to send a message to the government to stop adding INSULT to INJURY. ✊🏽📢
We are standing shoulder to shoulder to keep their offices open and protect the services injured workers rely on.
Office closures hurt workers and the communities they serve. We stand with OCEU/CUPE 1750 members demanding that WSIB keep offices open and put injured workers first. 💪🏽
Solidarity!
A few moments from last week’s CACO caucus 🚨✊🏽
It was a chance to connect, share experiences and bring our voices together. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and helped make the gathering what it was. 👏🏽
In Fall 2027, the largest archive of Indian Residential School Survivor records is set to be destroyed by order of the Supreme Court of Canada.
This September 30th, on National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, the Indian Residential School Records Project (IRSR) project is hosting an event in collaboration with the Yellowhead Institute to discuss the right to truth and how the history of residential schools should be documented and managed.
In the context of rising residential school denialism, this event is being held at an urgent and critical moment.
Connie Walker (Investigative Journalist; Assistant Professor, Velma Rogers Research Chair, TMU), Kimberly Murray (Special Interlocutor for Missing Children and Unmarked Graves and Burial Sites; Associate Professor, Queen's), Marie Wilson (TRC Commissioner, 2009 - 2015), and Stephen Kakfwi (Survivor, former NWT Premier) in conversation with Hayden King (Executive Director, Yellowhead Institute) will discuss: What is at stake if we lose Survivor records?

"In our workplaces as well as in our union, speaking, creating, welcoming, supporting, and serving in French means living la Francophonie every day. It's building connections, providing services in French, and contributing, each and every one of us, to the growth of our Francophone community throughout Ontario.
"Thank you to everyone who keeps la Francophonie alive every day—in their work, in their communities, and in our labor movement. On behalf of CUPE Ontario, we wish you a wonderful Franco-Ontarian Day."

That’s a wrap on the Health Care Workers Coordinating Committee Conference! 🏥✊🏾
Over the past few days, CUPE health care workers from across Ontario came together to connect, learn, strategize and build the collective power we need to defend public health care.
We’re leaving this conference stronger, more united and ready to keep fighting for health care workers, our patients and the public services our communities depend on. 📢
Behind every book recommendation, community program and welcoming library space are workers who care deeply about the people they serve. We’re proud to have shared some of their stories.
To Thunder Bay’s library workers: thank you for all you do to make your libraries places where everyone belongs. Solidarity always! ✊🏽📖

CUPE members joined the March for the Land to stand with Grassy Narrows First Nation. ✊🏽
For generations, the community has fought for clean water, justice for mercury poisoning, and the right to protect their land.
We’re proud to march alongside them and add our voices to their call: respect Grassy Narrows’ sovereignty and protect the land for future generations.
Great leadership by the national executive board of @cupenat, which passed a unanimous motion vowing to defy the Liberal government's Bill C-39 limiting the constitutional right to strike. Read more here: https://t.co/CSK2rXYmk1
