A Russian soldier ran up to a nun walking down a sidewalk in Petrograd.
Out of breath he asked, “Please, may I hide under your skirt? I'll explain later.”
The nun agreed.
A moment later two politsya ran up and asked:
“Sister, have you seen a soldier?”
The nun replied, “He went that way.”
After the politsya ran off the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said, “I can't thank you enough, Sister. You see, I don't want to go to Ukraine.”
The nun said, “I understand completely.”
The soldier added, “I hope I'm not rude, but you have a great pair of legs!”
The nun replied, “If you had looked a little higher, you would've seen a great pair
of balls, too. I don't want to go to Ukraine either."

The Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada

Dear Prime Minister,
Re: Request to Advise the Governor General to Disallow
Bill 5—Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025
The people of Ontario need you to protect them from their Premier.
I urge you to advise the Governor General to use her authority under Section 56 of the Constitution Act, 1867 to disallow Premier Doug Ford’s Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025.
Premier Ford has a disreputable history of willfully disregarding, degrading, and denying Canadians’ constitutional rights, including abusing Section 33 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
So far, he has been able to do this with impunity because the federal government has been reluctant—and too timid—to honour its obligations to Canadians living in Ontario and use its constitutional powers to protect them.
My Member of Provincial Parliament, Mike Schreiner, explains succinctly and perfectly the issues with Premier Fords’ Bill 5—Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025,
“From environmental NGOs and First Nations leaders to legal experts, archaeologists, and civil society organizations – the message was loud and clear: Bill 5 [Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025] is a reckless power grab; an attack on democracy, the people and places we love; and the constitutional duty to consult First Nations.
“This bill would grant the Premier and his cabinet sweeping, unprecedented powers to override provincial and municipal laws – laws that protect workers, endangered species, farmland, and the nature that protects us from flooding and unsafe weather.
“The Premier is using Trump’s trade war as cover to ram this legislation through, despite the serious and lasting damage it would cause.” 12 May 2025
Politically, and likely legally, the people of Ontario have no means left to prevent Premier Ford from doing his worst and causing irreversible harm.
Our last recourse, institutionally, is the Prime Minister of Canada. I appeal to you to use your good offices to prevent Premier Ford arbitrarily abrogating many of Ontario’s most important laws based on nothing more than his and his cabinet’s whims, political expedience, and preferential treatment for those whom he seems to politically and personally favour.
I would be grateful—as would most people in Ontario—for any protection, relief, and assistance you can afford us.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Best

@beynate Disappointed and confused you are not the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and shocked you are not in cabinet. My first red flag for the new government.
