Starting a new challenge for myself:
"Vibe coding until I get $100"
Day 0:
I don't really know why I'm doing this challenge.. maybe it's for recognition for myself, or i just want justification that I can do anything. I have no coding experience...I would love to learn... And I want to at least try.
I'm on vacation, I'm 18 and I'm tired of waiting for my parents to do everything for me. I want to actually help them and I think making $100 online can help prove something within me. I know it will be hard at first, but I want to post this online so people can keep me accountable... And I also want to be accountable to myself.
Keep in mind that I can do things for myself if I need it, but it's more physical like working jobs and such, but I've always been inspired when I see people online my age doing stuff like this. I always wonder where they get the motivation. But I think I understand that it's all just discipline really.
I've tried making money online before but had no motivation to keep going and today was the first time I actually got fed up with myself and my situation.
Rules for myself:
Start from Scratch: I will start with no pre-existing code, team, or investment. I'll bootstrap solo using AI tools.
Tools Allowed: I'll use AI/no-code/low-code only (e.g., ChatGPT, Cursor, Supabase, Stripe, Claude code etc). No outsourcing to help with anything .
Goal: I'll hit $100 in verifiable earnings (e.g., sales, subscriptions) from my build. I'll define what counts upfront.
Timeline: No fixed end; I'll continue until goal or pivot. I'll set mini-deadlines, like completing a design in a day or 2.
Documentation: I'll update progress through X threads, maybe GitHub because I don't have a solid understanding about it yet. I'll share daily/weekly: builds, code snippets, wins/fails.
Pivots: Allowed if ideas flop, but I'll document everything transparently or at least to the best of my ability (I'm kinda lazy lmao).
But yeah hopefully I find like minded individuals that would come with me on this journey. If I do make $100 (CAD) I will extend the challenge to $1000 then $10000 then $100000. But baby steps. I know even the first bit of money is gonna be crazy holy. I'm excited and I hope my future self can look back at this with pride. I'm going to kick myself in the face if I can't achieve this even with my schedule once it resumes. I know I can and I will.
I will post more once I have an idea to start with, just brainstorming at the moment!
@chetaslua Question is this model good at making actual tools? Like if I need an application that can take a video and extract audio while removing the dead space could it be innovative enough that it would do this like sonnet? Set is cool but you should do more tool prompts.
@Hemp6473@ChiseledAdonis At first glance I can already tell your math is wrong. 100times 365 days is 36500 so if it’s 100,000 a day then it’s 36,500,000 a year you goofy.
Realistically, if I say, "Oh, I found something that increases the performance of a model," what are the chances that some big lab already discovered it months ago and now is laughing at me, knowing it doesn't actually scale?
@likev@aiwithjainam Well considering how it improves the models responses compared to COT, shows it’s actually worth to invest in… Plus it’s just a standard prompt that could always be improved or expanded on.
Gemini 3 is one of those models where it does everything you want it to do and more… if you don’t do coding that’s okay! If you don’t want a conversational chatbot… that’s okay! It can be legit anything and it’s fast too
Chatting with Gemini 3 over multiple turns is pretty interesting. Sure, it kinda repeats the same things, but when you talk about something new, you can tell the raw intelligence is still there. Plus, it never gets annoyed when you tell it something over and over.
