@Sabeltannn@ggfggccfalt Sometimes u gotta wonder about the sapience of people who become wokescolds on posts made by fascists and commented on by fascists
...and, one may even say was rather strikingly designed compared to the majority of European locomotives, with the prow-like sheetmetal on the headlight.
While, mechanically, they were by all accounts absolute dogs, requiring two prime movers to do work a G16 could do in one (which explains why the EMD-designed machines are as common as rats throughout the Balkans), the 662 was a wholly Yugoslavian machine...
With their habit of burning, they gained the nickname "Skylab" from local engineers, based on the space station that had recently undergone an uncontrolled deorbit over Australia, raining debris.
The JZ series 662 was a rarity - one of the few Yugoslav diesel locomotives produced domestically, rather than built on license. Producing 1650hp with two 825hp prime movers based on those found originally in a common family of Brissonneau et Lotz shunters...
...when one ignited in a tunnel through that mountainous region, killing 34 and injuring 113. Promptly, after just five years, 13 of the 17 built were withdrawn, with the four remaining machines reassigned to Novi Sad. Their number would be halved before 10 years were up.
...one could argue that the design was dated from the moment it hit Yugoslav rails; EMD's G16 could produce it with one. They also had a problem with faulty wiring leading to electricial fires. Given they were assigned to Sarajevo, this led to a tragedy in 1971...
In an effort to surpass Mexico's HSTs as Dumbest Latin American Import for 2024, the illegitimate Boluarte regime has been gifted the entire Caltrain F40PH and gallery car fleet.

It apparently arrived in 1995 at the pilot engine for an effort to import these machines, operating on the BN out of Chicago. It never caught on, and eventually found itself on the Ohio Central. It languished there until 2006, but usage info is completely unknown.
Cuba's machines differ from domestic production in many regards, but primarily, one can distinguish them via the MU hookups located on either side of the coupler - fitting for turning the switcher into a mainline design.
DF7G-MR208 is a unique case. CRRC has produced specialized designs for Russian Gauge systems before; but as far as it is documented, it's virtually the same as a Chinese DF7G.
It appears EMD's Joule platform is coming to New York - as of 2021. The contract expired in 2023, and both @Progress_Rail and the @MTA@LIRR have been radio silent.
Although this is still recent, it appears that a primary cause of this accident was austerity. Allegedly, the 2020-installed signal systems on the San Martin's urban portion are completely inactive, and trains are operating based on Train Orders.
Just for reference; Train Orders are something which is mostly used in remote, single-track territory. This is worse than the CTC installation on the Interoceanio. And this is a commuter line, which runs upwards of 4tph.
