A couple just walked out of the polls with their newborn, looked down at their son, and said, “He voted for you.”

One of the most humbling moments of this entire campaign. The responsibility that comes with this seat is not lost on me.

After talking with voters at polling locations today, one thing stands out: People are genuinely excited about this campaign.

What I’m hearing isn’t fear or obligation to vote a certain way. It’s hope for something different. It’s joy. And the energy is CRAZY!

In my experience with DJJ, DCF, and now our education system, I’ve noticed a pattern: Our state systems can become so focused on achieving outcomes that we overlook whether the processes used to achieve them were efficient, transparent, or, quite frankly, sound.
We can do better.

Tonight, Sunset Hills made it clear: Trust comes from hearing families, not just making them feel heard.

It may be tempting to dismiss tonight as emotional, but their concerns were real.

With more closures coming, the district must change its process before the next closure.
