$AUR just changed the economics of trucking.
Aurora’s driverless trucks can now run a 1,000 mile route from Fort Worth to Phoenix nonstop. Human drivers cannot do that because of hours of service limits.
The trip takes about 15 hours.
That means freight moves faster. Trucks stay in motion. Assets generate more revenue per day.
Aurora has already logged 250,000 fully driverless miles with no major safety incidents. The company is operating across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona and plans to scale to more than 200 trucks by year end.
This is no longer a test program.
It is commercial freight running longer and faster than humans can legally drive.
If Aurora proves it can scale this model, what does that do to margins across the freight industry?
