Well said Coach! Congrats to you & these amazing women. Thanks for laying the foundation for them so many years ago!

[District One Basketball Academy 🏀 @DistrictOneBA]

A short tribute to the college class of 2025, I will always remember all of you. You ladies are the true founders of District One.  Because of you there are now countless players behind you. 9 players on a team and all 9 of you went on to play in college!

You have a hell of a class coming behind you too!

It starts as a pyramid around 5th or 6th grade JV with School or CYO. You make that team, and you keep getting better and then you compete at the next level - Varsity 7/8th which is more competitive than when you enter your High School which changes and opens your eyes to a much much bigger world. There are a few players percentage wise that will play in high school and very few go onto playing in college. And then there is another level to the pyramid. Playing college for four years!  Which is incredible, as you play with injuries, playing sick, playing through Covid, sore from lifts and the many sacrifices you give up to remain on the team.  Leaving holiday events early to return to school and leaving your family.  Competing against older teammates and younger incoming freshman.   Dealing with classwork and relationships outside of basketball.

You guys are the epitome of a student-athlete by making Deans list semester after semester. You have made it to the top.  The game has given you so much - teammates/friends for life and memories forever.

As you step off the court for the final time, the last shot, the last dribble, the last pass.  You played your careers with poise and selflessness just as you created the culture here at D1.  You give up a good shot for a better shot for someone else, for the team. That is what team basketball is all about - unselfish players until the end.

Now go and give back to this sport and coach or volunteer to help promote the game the right way. I will miss watching you play more than you know. Remember the beautiful game.

Love you guys.  #Spurs
