Pleased to receive the latest mag from Classic Monsters: THE HAMMER VAMPIRE FILMS. From The Brides of Dracula through to The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires this covers all their classic movies from this genre. Fangs for the memories! 🦇🧛🏼♀️
Watched Mel Brooks' YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (1974) which is a wacky comedy with zany performances from Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman in particular. The film uses the laboratory equipment from the original Frankenstein movie.
Watched THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN (1964) starring Peter Cushing & Sandor Eles, directed by Freddie Francis. The 3rd Hammer film in the series with a more traditional monster, is enjoyable but not the best of the series. Good to see Peter Woodthorpe (Del Boy's father!) as Zoltan
Watched COUNT DRACULA (1970) starring Christopher Lee, Herbert Lom & Klaus Kinski. Jess Franco's film promised to be the first to tell the real Bram Stoker tale, an atmospheric version with more dialogue for Lee & was apparently his favourite Dracula role.
Watched 28 DAYS LATER (2002) directed by Danny Boyle starring Cillian Murphy & the sequel 28 YEARS LATER (2007) starring Robert Carlyle.
How to the 28 Years Later films compare?
Watched the Hammer classic THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF (1961) starring Oliver Reed, Clifford Evans & Yvonne Romain, directed by Terence Fisher. My first watch of Hammer's only lycanthropic film. Dated sure but great seeing Ollie putting his all into the title role.
