Students explored MVC & MVVM through hands-on app building—Tic-Tac-Toe and a To-Do List app—while learning data flow, prototyping, and clean architecture principles. 📱🚀 #STEMSaturdays#iOSDev#SwiftUI
On Saturday, November 16, STEM Outreach had the pleasure of welcoming Botley Crue, the robotics team from Midwood High School! 🤖✨
Led by Director of STEM Outreach, Yvonne Thevenot, and Senior Mechanical Engineering student, Maria Alvarado! #CooperSTEM
STEM Saturdays @ The Cooper Union was all about innovation in action!
In Mechanics and Electronics for Emergency Response, students explored ultrasonic sensors, learned about physicist Paul Langevin’s contributions to sonar tech, and coded their own SONAR systems in C++. 💻🌊
Summer STEM closed with an inspiring final showcase, where students presented their projects to a panel of Maroon and Gold judges. From bold ideas to impressive execution, they showed just how much can be achieved in a few short weeks. We're so proud of their growth! #SummerSTEM
Summer STEM student pitched their ideas, debated CRISPR ethics, built prototypes, folded origami dodecahedrons, and 3D printed components. Between coding, poster-making, and refining presentations, every class pushed closer to showcase-ready projects. #STEMatCooperinNYC#Engineer
Today, students tackled bridge-building sprints, prototyped with 3D printers and laser cutters, explored the High Line’s sustainable design, coded low-level drivers, and experimented with lattices, tessellations, and metamaterials. #STEMatCooperinNYC
Summer STEM students made major progress on their final projects across all classes. They practiced elevator pitches, analyzed audio with FFTs, 3D printed custom keychains, and mixed concrete for their model homes. Creativity and problem-solving were in full effect. #STEMatCooper
Students poured concrete for foam houses, explored robotic sound design after learning about Zimoun, and mapped NYC’s subway from memory. They simulated wave patterns on a Chladni plate and committed their code to Git. It was a full day of hands-on learning! #STEMatCooperinNYC
Today, students prototyped with cardboard, modeled neural networks in Python, pitched immersive installation ideas, visualized data with maps, coded I2C drivers, and generated spiral patterns using complex numbers. Each project moved one step closer to reality. #STEMatCooperinNYC
Today, innovation was in full swing: students prototyped sustainable homes, built robotic instruments, explored neural networks, and refined their designs through interviews and iteration. Big ideas are taking shape across every class. #STEMatCooperinNYC#Engineering#CooperUnion
Today, students prototyped eco-friendly homes, tackled I2C driver design, visualized NYC trees with GeoPandas, explored derivatives, and brought patterns to life with Python. From cardboard to code, it was a day of building, thinking, and pushing boundaries. #STEMatCooperinNYC
Today at Summer STEM, students mapped daily routines, created generative art, interviewed East Village locals, built robot arms, and analyzed NYC census data. It was a full day of critical thinking, design research, and creative problem-solving across all classes. #SummerSTEM
From prototyping chairs and coding Fibonacci sequences to debating generative art and exploring NYC data, students put their creativity and critical thinking to the test across all our Summer STEM classes today. #STEMatCooperinNYC#DesignThinking#SummerSTEM
Today, we welcomed new faces to Design Thinking and Patterns Everywhere! After starting the day with a fun Q&A session between new and veteran students, they dove into building cardboard sculptures, programming in C, and visualizing data using Python. #STEMatCooperinNYC#Engineer
From sound-reactive animal sculptures to recycled wind turbines and inclusive park designs, students showcased weeks of creativity, engineering, and problem-solving. The midsession showcase was full of ideas built for a better world! #STEMatCooperinNYC#SummerSTEM#STEMShowcase
Today, Summer STEM students built solar ovens for s'mores, finished found objects prototypes, and practiced poster presentations. Projects are coming together as we prepare for the mid-session showcase!! #STEMatCooperInNYC#Engineering#Design#Iteration#SummerSTEM
Our students tackled real-world challenges with creativity and curiosity—debugging code, visualizing climate data in Canva, designing wearable tech, and building interactive prototypes that reflect the world they want to shape. #STEMinAction#SummerSTEM#CooperUnion#Engineering
From laser cutting to sound synthesis, data viz to sustainable design— students spent the day sketching, coding, iterating, and reimagining the world around them. Prototypes are in motion and ideas are taking shape. A great start to the week! #SummerSTEM#Design#Engineering
