THIS IS HOW THE TOP 1% ACTUALLY RUN FABLE 5. 6 THINGS MOST PEOPLE MISS
1/ Model routing stack
Fable 5 is not meant to do everything. Sonnet 4.6 handles repetitive tasks - lint passes, refactors, doc updates. Haiku 4.5 checks the work. Opus 4.8 is the fallback when Fable 5 refuses a request. Route by task type. Stop burning Fable 5 on work it's overkill for
2/ Verifier sub-agent
Never let the same model check its own output. It already has a point of view and will defend what it wrote. A separate Haiku sub-agent that has never seen the original run checks the result against the goal with fresh eyes. Without it, Fable 5 stops at the first result that looks good enough
3/ Dynamic workflows
Type the word "workflow" in your prompt and Fable 5 builds its own step-by-step plan on the go. 3 patterns that matter: fanout splits work across parallel agents and combines results at the end. Adversarial verification gives every agent its own independent checker. Loop until done keeps agents running until a hard stop condition is met - the system can never declare itself finished too early
4/ Work trees
The moment 2 agents run simultaneously, files collide. Work trees give each agent its own branch, its own workspace. They can never override each other
5/ Skills that accumulate
State files die when a project ends. Skills travel with you across every project forever. After every real failure, the lesson goes into the skill file - not the chat. 2 weeks of this and that file holds known failure modes, patterns, and rules that survive real testing. It outperforms anything Fable 5 figures out from scratch
6/ Safety boundary
Fable 5 refuses certain requests in cybersecurity, biology, chemistry, and model training. The refusal comes back as a normal response - not an error. If you don't build a fallback to Opus 4.8 into every part of your setup that touches those areas, the whole system breaks silently
