'Kicking the can down the road' or 'buying time'?

What's the difference?

Kicking cans down the road is what you do with problems that actually have no solution (eg Northern Island/Brexit).

Buying time is valid for problems that can eventually be solved (coronavirus/vaccine).

Fascinated by #KillingEve, a great example of what a ghostwriter can do.

I know #PhoebeWallerBridge (of #Fleabag fame) isn't officially a ghost, but she's taken a low-grade novel and given it mystique, dialogue and impact, just by writing so well.
