Yes, these conversations can be uncomfortable.
But the more we have them, the closer we become to breaking the taboo of talking about unlocked guns.
Great piece by @cvdwrites with insights from @VictorFornariMD, vice chair and child & adolescent psychiatry director at Northwell.
There is no such thing as being “pro-life” while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place.
It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.
@redheadeyeroll @stmorecowbell @Kellie_Martin Soda water with lime! Looks like a "real" drink and keeps those questions at bay. You can save the deeper explanations for the people you want to share with.
@Kellie_Martin Two strategies that have made social situations not-awkward since I stopped drinking: 1) I make clear that I like people who drink and don't judge them (that's what they're worried about); 2) I drink soda water/lime, which looks like a "drink" and keeps many questions at bay.
I've never read a book quite like this. I hadn't expected to cry while reading a story that starts inside "the portal" and then bravely leaves it for real life. But I did. Thank you for this powerful and beautiful novel, @TriciaLockwood
