I chatted with a customer server representative at @amazon about the cancellation of the new Stargate tv show. This is what they wrote (blah..):
Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Stargate series. I understand how disappointing it is when a project you were looking forward to doesn’t move ahead, especially with original creators involved.
At this time, Amazon MGM Studios has decided not to proceed with the current version of the Stargate series. While decisions like these are based on multiple factors including creative direction and programming strategy, we truly value the passion and feedback from fans like you.
The Stargate franchise remains an important property, and there are ongoing considerations about how it may be developed in the future.
I’ll make sure your feedback is shared with the relevant teams, as customer interest plays an important role in shaping future decisions.
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how you feel—we genuinely appreciate it.
@cwebdesign@amazon I had a similar convo when I canceled. Yes it’s all AI, but I have to hope that it was actually forwarded. If not, I’ll keep posting it for @AmazonMGMStudio and @amazon to hopefully reconsider.
When we learn more we do better. Do better #blairfetter and #savestargate
@MichaelShanks@AmazonMGMStudio I sent an email, [email protected]
Letting him know that a lot of us are waiting for stargate to return and that even where I live on France almost everyone know of the show and would be interested to give it a chance
I really hope Martin, @bradtravelers, and @BaronDestructo lean into this and pitch the analytical side of Amazon's leadership. Even if @AmazonMGMStudio wants to pump the brakes, they should at minimum green light a single movie or mini-series to allow these guys to opportunity to prove the staying power of the franchise.
Worst case, Amazon proves the audience is "limited" and gets itself another property to add to the collection that will juice the streaming/consumption of Stargate properties they own for another decade +.
Best case, they will not lose any time kicking off this next phase that Martin had envisioned, a new cast can be introduced warmly to the fanbase, Amazon gets the data they need to prove they need to go all-in, and the audience growth that has happened over the last two decades as the franchise sat dormant can accelerate.
@JeffBezos@ajassy Seems to be the perfect Amazonian experiment to run, no?
Albanians just showed the world how it's done.
The government was selling off prime coastal land and protected islands to Jared Kushner and linked investors for a massive luxury resort turning public beaches and nature reserves into private playgrounds for the ultra-rich. The people said: HELL NO. Thousands poured into the streets under “Albania Is Not For Sale.” Protests turned fiery. They stormed government buildings and burnt down the Prime Minister’s house. This isn’t just about a deal. It’s about sovereignty. It’s about refusing to let your country be auctioned off to foreign billionaires while locals lose access to their own coastline. When elites sell the nation’s future for kickbacks and luxury resorts, the people have every right to push back hard. Respect to the Albanians for refusing to be colonized by cash. Other countries should be taking notes.
Must be fake because apparently we’re a small niche group of fans.
We could never have STARGATE trending?
Sort it out @JeffBezos reverse this decision. Make enough money to build another rocket.

Amazon just canceled the new Stargate series after a 20-week writers room and pre-production had already begun.
The backlash is massive, especially after fans learned the show was being developed by longtime Stargate veteran Martin Gero.
Fans do NOT want a new Stargate series if the legends who made Stargate aren't involved.
Everyone needs to know that Amazon reportedly still wants to make Stargate, just WITHOUT the writers and producers who spent decades faithfully building and expanding the franchise.
Fans were actually excited to see what Martin, Brad, Joe were making because they've proven for decades that they understand how to foster and tell new Stargate stories.
LET THE PEOPLE WHO MADE STARGATE KEEP MAKING STARGATE! @AmazonMGMStudio@PrimeVideo #Stargate
Hey Stargate Fans please let @amazon and @AmazonMGMStudio know how you feel about them cancelling #Stargate
They MOCK us. They think they don't need us. Let them know what you think of that.
I won't be watching ANY other Stargate that is created without the OG creators /Gero being involved.
I'm DONE with studios SHITTING ON THE FANS AND KILLING IPS WE LOVE.

Sadly, it's true. Amazon has elected not to move forward with the new Stargate series.
There's not much I can add beyond confirming what's happened. But I will say this...
Creator Martin Gero developed a new Stargate series over two years, ultimately crafting a show that offered a fresh jumping-on point for new viewers while deeply respecting existing canon. It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family. And based on that creative vision, the new Stargate series was greenlit in November of 2025.
As of today, officially, that original vision is no more. We'll never get the opportunity to introduce you to that world and those characters - or reintroduce you to, and check in with, some familiar faces from the past.
My heart breaks. For the incredibly talented writers who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. For Martin who maintained an unwavering positive outlook throughout despite the challenges, and who always strove to make a show that would honor the fans while welcoming a new audiences. And for the long-suffering Stargate fandom who waited so long and came so close to getting a show they truly would have loved.
