@robtfrank subtle pied-a-terre rule. If someone doesn’t want to buy a place to use as pied-a-terre and chooses to rent to use as pied-a-terre, their landlord will still be subject to a pied-a-terre tax.
The city is asking for proof a tenant is using an apartment as residence….
@EamonJavers@cnbc
How exactly is no tariff ground beef coming into the country going to improve US herds?
Why don’t you look into the fact that DOGE cut testing of imported cattle which enabled screwworm to come into the country and kill off our stocks?
@SaraEisen , incorrect response to @carlquintanilla .
The pied-a-terre tax is for $1mm for condos.
$5mm for single family homes.
So, think about what that means for Manhattan.
@schwarzposter_ What if you have a tenant who doenst want to provide a tax return for privacy reasons and the lease they signed last year does not require them to provide it.. because .. no standard NYC lease makes such a demand?
@notchrisvolpe If you have a tenant, standard NYC leases do not require that they provide the owner/landlord a tax return or any of the other documents requested.
They can refuse for privacy.
Future leases can make such requirements, but current leases do not.
So then what can landlord do?
